Consumption is expected to increase this week as schools re-open after the summer break. Favourable weather has improved digging conditions in areas that were affected by heavy rain last week however, digging of new season Rooster is taking a back seat this week as a lot of farmers are busy harvesting cereals.
Reports from growers indicate that tubers numbers are low and yields will be only average. Quality is very good and there is good demand for the new crop to date. Digging of Kerr Pinks commenced last week with product available in wholesale markets.
Across the continent, exports to Eastern Europe including Poland have slowed as availability from mainland Europe increases.
