IFA Aquaculture Conference 2019

IFA Aquaculture held its inaugural Aquaculture conference and annual meeting at the Connacht Hotel, Galway on the 26^th September 2019, with over 200 people in attendance.

This event is supported by Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM) who hosted ‘Taste the Atlantic – Celebration of Irish Aquaculture’ as part of the event later the same evening.

Over the past few months, IFA Aquaculture has been undergoing the process of essential change with the formation of a new structure within the IFA.

This process was formalised during a general meeting held at the Connacht Hotel, Galway on Thursday 26^th September, where IFA Aquaculture members ratified the formation of IFA Aquaculture as a single consolidated body representing all sectors of the Irish aquaculture industry.

IFA Aquaculture is comprised of representatives from all sectors of the Irish aquaculture industry, this includes all stakeholders that farm fish, shellfish, seaweeds and for other novel species that may be cultured around the coastline of Ireland. This new consolidated representative body will replace previous representative bodies, namely Irish Shellfish Association (ISA) and Irish Salmon Growers Association (ISGA).

IFA Aquaculture will focus on providing strong industry representation nationally and internationally, supporting the improvement and development of the Irish aquaculture industry and promoting positive aspects of Irish aquaculture.
