Farmers to Receive Up-To-Date BEAM Statement from Dept Of Agriculture

IFA Livestock Chairman Brendan Golden has welcomed the announcement by the Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue that farmers will receive an up-to-date BEAM eligibility statement based on their 5% reduction target.

Brendan Golden said these statements follow IFA’s request in meetings with the Department of Agriculture to provide farmers with this important information. 

“These statements must provide farmers with their current status in relation to the 5% reduction target, and be supplemented with monthly updates on Agfood.ie, allowing farmers to measure in real time if they are meeting their target,” he said.

The IFA Livestock Chairman said the BEAM scheme monies were secured by IFA for farmers to offset the market impact of Brexit on beef farmers. 

He said it is critical every effort is made to support farmers to protect this payment.
