Lamb Market Strengthens – IFA
IFA National Sheep Committee Chairman James Murphy said the lamb trade has strengthened this week with €4.45/kg widely available and up to €4.50/kg being paid by some factories. In addition, he said, factories have also increase weight limits with suppliers able to achieve upper weights of 23kg.
James Murphy said with the weekly kill running at 52,000 head for the last four weeks, a lot of lambs have being moved. In addition, he said the live trade has been very active for the Muslim festival over the same period. He said this should leave lambs tighter for the final weeks of the year.
