IFA Says Farmer Patience at Breaking Point over Aeos Payment Delays
IFA President John Bryan said farmer patience is at breaking point over the unacceptable delays in AEOS payments. John Bryan said Minister Coveney and the Department made a commitment to pay AEOS in August and this commitment must now be delivered upon.
John Bryan said, “It is totally unacceptable that 8,500 AEOS applicants are waiting on payments, despite making applications over 15 months ago. He said applicants who have undertaken work on their farms and incurred compliance costs are fed up with the foot dragging and payment delays on AEOS.”
The IFA President said Department of Agriculture excuses over delays in preparing a computer programme for AEOS are not acceptable and payments must commence immediately.
John Bryan pointed out that over 2,300 REPS 4 farmers are also waiting on their final 25% payment instalment.
