Lamb Price Rising
IFA National Sheep Chairman John Lynskey has said lamb prices are rising with factories paying €4.80/kg and top prices of €4.85/4.90. He said feeders are holding out for more and have €5.00/kg in their sights.
He said carcase weights are also rising with some factories having moved up to 23kgs and more offering deals at 23kgs. He said farmers need to bargain hard with outlets still stuck on 22kgs and at the lower quoted prices.
John Lynskey said the ewe trade was also stronger with €2.70/kg being paid .
