Regional CAP Meetings

IFA is holding four regional meetings to discuss and update members on all the key IFA proposals and objectives relating to the new Common Agricultural Policy (CAP).

Munster will hold the first meeting on Tuesday, 18th May , followed by South Leinster on Wednesday, 19th MayConnacht will hold its meeting next on Thursday, 20th May, and the Ulster/North Leinster meeting will take place on Monday, 24th May.

These regional meetings provide an opportunity to present members with updates on the CAP.

“Decisions in the coming weeks and months will decide the direction of our sector out to 2030. The week beginning 24th May is crucial. Irish Ministers will be in Brussels attending a so-called CAP ‘super trilogue’ and Council of Ministers meetings.

Irish representatives must ensure there is a strong focus on farm incomes to underpin the wider sector and the rural economy.

The current reform proposals, particularly the Eco-scheme element, pose a serious threat to farm incomes.

These meetings will allow us to get the views of members on key issues such as CAP reform and input on policy formation.”

IFA President, Tim Cullinan

Tadhg Buckley, IFA Director of Policy, will give a presentation on CAP, after which there will be a discussion on this and key farming issues.

All meetings are due to run from 8.00pm to 9.30pm.
