Factories Anxious for Spring Lamb
IFA National Sheep Chairman John Lynskey said factories are anxiously looking for spring lambs with a lot of talk about the changeover from Hoggets at retail level.
He said prices are €6.00/kg ranging from €5.90 to tops of €6.10 paid earlier this week.
He said hoggets are making €5.15/kg with prices ranging from €5.10 to €5.20 and top prices of €5.30 earlier in the week.
John Lynskey said farmers should select lambs carefully and continue to move stock as they become fit, maximising value by negotiating on both price and weight.
