International Shellfish Safety Conference – May 2017

IFA Aquaculture supports ICMSS 2017, an international conference hosted by regulators, scientists and industry in Ireland to highlight cutting edge food safety management of shellfish farming.
This event will examine the important role shellfish has in the modern diet as well as assuring consumers and the entire food chain of the commitment of industry and regulators to overcome the challenges of farming filter feeders in our inshore areas.
The Irish Shellfish Association, as part of IFA Aquaculture, has a long standing reputation as one of the most progressive industry bodies in the world in its involvement in key food safety aspects of the complex and highly regulated area of shellfish production. IFA members are involved on a weekly basis in co-operation with regulators in the Marine Institute, Sea Fisheries Protection Authority, the HSE, BIM and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland in dealing directly with preventing pollution issues impacting on seafood safety and water quality to monitoring the waters around Ireland using the best technology available.
