Dairy Farmers Will Not Pay on the Double for Promotion – Kiersey

IFA National Dairy Committee Chairman Kevin Kiersey today (Wed) called on Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney to sit down immediately with the Irish Dairy Board and sort out with them his proposal for a new dairy farmer promotion levy.

“Dairy farmers already pay a marketing levy to the IDB, and they are not going to pay on the double. The Minister must find a solution to farmers’ concerns with the IDB,” Mr Kiersey said.

“To deliver on the Food Harvest 2020 targets, dairy farmers will need to make significant investment on their farms. It makes absolutely no sense to waste scarce resources, and dairy farmers are clear that they are not going to pay two marketing levies,” he concluded.
