Potato Prices Expected to Lift as Schools Open
Potato sales remain positive considering the time of year and, we should see a further lift in consumption as the schools reopen next week.
Queen prices remain stable with growers faring better depending on their location etc. In general, growers who have adapted their acreages to defined markets/outlets and who consistently produce a quality product, continue to have better sales then those who don’t.
New season maincrop is now available in most retail outlets, with growers describing demand as very strong. With Irish potato production levels forecast to be similar to last year, growers need to remain strong when negotiating on price.
