Cattle Prices Continue to Harden

IFA National Livestock Chairman Angus Woods said cattle prices continue to harden with the base for steers now solidly on €3.95 and €4.05 base for heifers. He said winter finishers are holding out for a base of €4.00 and €4.10/kg.

Angus Woods said mart prices are very strong, having increased significantly in the last two weeks.

He said finished cattle or close to finished cattle sold in the mart are making a substantial premium on what they would get in the factories based on quoted prices.
