PotatoPotato Market Reports

Potato Market Update 11th September

Consumption remains stable as demand is reported to be positive. Growers continue to lift crop as they are fit. There are continued reports that yields will be reduced on later planted crops. With colder temperatures forecast for night this week, later planted crops will struggle to bulk up.

In the U.K. the crop is widely described as “average” and many believe that the outcome of the season will depend on the success of the harvest and the level of demand. Quality issues this week have been dominated by high levels of bruising, but some high waste deductions include greening.

It is reported that seed production in Europe will be sufficient for the 2025 season, given an increase in area and good tuberisation.
