Consumption and retail demand remains quite strong for this time of year, the recent warmer weather had an effect but consumptions remain buoyant. New season Queens continue to come onto the market as they are fit. Some early Rooster will be coming onto the market in small quantities. This is easing the pressure on the short supply of old season stock. Later plantings still have some catching up to do but looking good so far.
In the U.K. early planted crops are rapidly dying down or being burnt down with some good yields but later plantings are now often showing stress where irrigation is not readily available. In Scotland, it has become very dry in the East and later plantings are at 10 to 12 t/acre. Good growing conditions with rain will be required if respectable yields can be achieved.
