Sales are holding up very well with the current cold weather boosting consumption. There is excellent demand for prepack quality material and prices are holding accordingly. Following the extremely challenging harvest, there are further reports that the saleable yields are significantly reduced after grading out of store.
In most regions of Europe there has been no further lifting over the holiday period. Recent estimates suggest that there could be 15,000 ha’s still to lift in Belgium, Holland, Germany and France combined and within this total ‘a few hundred ha’s of seed’. Fresh markets are firm with reports of good demand and some stronger prices. Export markets are starting to come to life again with demand from the Mediterranean countries and Eastern Europe.
