Home consumption and retail trade remain buoyant especially with the weather experienced recently. Consumers appear to be recognising the value of potatoes with current inflationary pressures. It is shaping up to be another late year, with practically no potatoes sown before St Patricks day this year. Stocks of potatoes in store continue to tighten with upward price pressure again reported.
Across Europe, export demand has decreased due to the recent hike in pricing although there is ongoing good demand from France for best quality. Planting of the early crop is delayed by the very wet soil conditions but better progress is reported now in South West France.
