National Fuel Prices Remain Relatively Unchanged in Recent IFA Quartely Survey

IFA’s Inputs Project Team Chairman John Coughlan has reported broadly unchanged fuel prices in the most recent quarterly survey published by Association. The results show agricultural diesel now costs on average 60.50 cent per litre, car diesel 112.87 cent per litre and kerosene 55.8 cent per litre.

However, the survey results highlight considerable variations in fuel prices throughout the country, with farmers in county Limerick paying less than 109 cent per litre for car diesel, while farmers in Leitrim pay over 120 cent per litre.

On agricultural diesel, farmers in Longford, Wexford, Wicklow, Limerick, Waterford and Leitrim are all paying above the national average.

John Coughlan said, “The recurring trend that fuel suppliers in counties such as Longford, Sligo, Waterford and Leitrim are charging farmers significantly more for fuel than in many other parts of the country is something farmers must challenge when buying fuel.”

He added, “Farmers who are members of purchasing groups or pay on the day are also reporting discounts of over 10% on the cost of fuel. This is something farmers should consider when buying fuel. It is important to shop around and negotiate the most competitive fuel prices possible.”

All prices are quoted include VAT.
