IFA Reaction to Broadband Announcement

IFA National Rural Development Chairman Tom Turley has welcomed the announcement by Minister for Communications Pat Rabbitte that broadband will be made available to everybody living in rural areas.

He said, “This scheme has been promised for some time. EU funding was provided for this initiative in the revised Rural Development Plan for last year. Farmers and businesses working in rural areas have been waiting for this facility and will welcome this belated announcement.”

Tom Turley said, “IFA has already expressed reservations about the application process. The Minister must ensure the scheme operates in an efficient manner.”
